Deersky’s Soundteller Records begins the month of February by welcoming Peter Roots back to the label for a new single. The Polish artist began his career on the Polish imprint in June of 2015 with a collaborative EP alongside Mr. Glass. An appearance on the label’s 2016 Summer Sampler and a remix of Ri Za’s ‘Timelapse’ in 2017 along with key releases on BC2 and The Purr round out a short but tidy discography. Now returning to Soundteller for his first release of 2019, Peter presents ‘Vesuvius’ alongside remixes from Pysh and Silinder.
Peter has always treaded the waters between progressive house and melodic techno with an effortless ease. His latest once again showcases sensibilities from both with just a touch of afro inspired drums as well. The Polish artist’s melancholic themes are on display here once again with fluttery, detailed design and a subversive mood that’s sure to be fire on a modern dance floor. Combine that with a restrained yet tastefully tense break and you’ve got a memorable club moment in the making.
Returning to Soundteller for his second appearance and providing the first remix is Pysh. The Polish artist made his label debut in February of last year with a remix of SEQU3L’s ‘My Summer Trips’. Also owning releases on Beatfreak, Einmusika, Manjumasi and Steyoyoke, Pysh now returns to Soundteller with a stunning rework of ‘Vesuvius’. Dynamic and buzzing in equal measure, it’s a mix that makes great use of the main themes with an added cosmic twist. The break shows Pysh’s keen sense of dance floor dynamics with all the tension and anticipation you could ever want, executed with a musical bridge and a restrained build which keeps the vibe on the right side of cool.
Rounding out the release and making his ninth appearance on the label is Silinder. Having just released his two track collaborative effort with fellow countryman Soulfinder on the Polish imprint two weeks ago, Silinder now returns for his first remix of 2019. Here he puts a sleeker more progressive minded twist on ‘Vesuvius’ with great results. Utilizing the main elements to great effect the Irish artist has delivered a smoother more fluid take on the spacey melodies. Melting down into the main break there are hints of emotion but it does remain quite cosmic throughout, building smoothly across the one minute centrepiece before timely modulation summons the groove back for a purring finale. Definitely the most progressive minded version on the package and one which adds depth and variety to what is ultimately another well thought out release for Soundteller Records. Don’t miss it.
