The criminally underused Glue Factory will once more be shrouded in darkness, this time immersing you in a full 12 hour audiovisual experience – the kind of all day warehouse party that Glasgow sadly doesn’t see too often.

Atmosphere and artistic curation is at the core of the Animal Farm mission statement, and BLACKOUT aims to once again push the boundaries of sensory experience within techno. Ravers should be prepared to shed the shackles of their everyday existence and plunge into the void, falling the same way. Curated with this in mind, the lineup fits the Animal Farm ethos – a marriage of international and local talent, both the established and the exciting, showcasing what the Glasgow sound is all about.

At 13 years Animal Farm is one of Glasgow’s longest running club nights and has firmly established itself as being at the forefront of the Techno scene. Residents Quail and Turtle are mainstays of the city’s clubbing community, regularly playing venues across Scotland and beyond with Quail recently headlining the legendary Tresor in Berlin. They launched Animal Farm Records 5 years ago, which has seen releases from Lars Huismann, Patrick Walker and A45 and they recently held their first label party at Arena Club in Berlin.

Joining Animal Farm throughout the day will be Kendal, one of the city’s brightest & most consistent DJs, who has established a solid reputation in Glasgow’s busy scene over just a few years. Adam Rutherford has been garnering attention as part of Missing Persons Club recently, one of the city’s most energetic and forward thinking nights. His selections boast a heady swagger and refreshing eclecticism, which will suit The Glue Factory’s environment to a T.

As we tumble further down the rabbit hole, newcomer JANICE will perform an exclusive live set – a project shrouded in secrecy but one that pulls no punches. Avian boss Guy Brewer, known as the artist Shifted, makes a welcome return to AF after making his Scottish debut here way back in 2011. He’s been on a hot streak as of late both as producer and curator, with a stellar full length for Vatican Shadow’s Hospital Productions last year and flawless direction at Avian which has helped to shape it into one of the most interesting labels in electronic music. A master of sound & space, texture & tonalities, Shifted is one of the most exciting names in modern techno.

Rounding off the lineup is an artist who needs little introduction – the Manchester born, Berlin based Blawan. Arguably one of the driving forces in the resurgence of modular techno through his mind-bending Karenn project with Pariah, he’s taken some time to carve an ever deeper musical identity, with a departure from his usual sound on Brewer’s Avian as Kilner last year. Nutrition, The fourth record under his own TERNESC label is expected this autumn, and if Rubadub’s preorder description is anything to go by – “double dunter of fkcd rippers from Blawan!” – the new record should suit the BLACKOUT aesthetic perfectly.

Paying heed to the visual component of the event and in partnership with Glasgow’s SUUM Studios, a specially designed series of visual presentations will take places throughout the venue during the days. Comprising of unique and one-off projection installations that will allow for maximum sensory exposure throughout the day.
